Direction

BOTA(Battle of the Aces) is in a process right now called solidification. Pretty much what I'm doing is making sure every--or close to every--aspect of the cards are concrete. Here are the step to finshing the game in order (THIS MAY CHANGE)...

Solidification

  1. Making sure that the collisions (when cards come into contact) in every scenario (very difficult) are structurally sound and create no defects or "glitches".
  2. Starting to develop the point values for the cards (other changes in the cards can be done here but mostly in step 1). 
  3. Actually redoing the cards on the computer and printing them.
Polishing
  1. Go over the game manual and rules and make sure everything makes sense and can be easily interpreted.
  2. Test the game many times to make sure no kinks are present.
  3. Create another board
*Future Advancements*
  1. Possibly create a box and try to get it published
  2. After I learn coding or potentially use Game Maker to make a PC/App version

A New Approach

Battle of the Aces is turning over a new leaf. I have finally fallen away from some of the molds that have, in a way, corrupted the game. Here is a list of them.
-Safe Zones
-2-4 player
-abundance
-# of cards
-card point values
-board size 
-type of testing
-some card changes

I will be focussing more this time around on solidifying the game and then start balancing the cards from there. This will be made easier with the new abundance and point value malleability. 

There are a couple new abilities. Many annoying things have left the game. Solidification is almost complete. Games are somewhat shorter since the board has been cut down to size. This will allow more time for testing and such. The game is still very complicated but is becoming more concrete with rules and the facts on each card.

New cards are in the process of being made. For now... Pictures will not be added to them due to lack of space. But I will figure out how to incorporate them sooner or later. Facts are now added to the front of the card. This has posed a challenge since space is a minority. I will keep printing test cards to find the best font and size for maximum space and info. 

These are my plans in order.
1). Solidify cards to a point where only minor changes need to be made (abundance, facts, and point value)
2). Test cards so all facts and collisions are accounted for and smooth
3). Fix and adjust rule book
4). Finish new cards
5). Create new board
6). Try to get the game publish or publicly tested!

Update

The game is going to be focussing on 2 player.

Maybe a later version will have 2-4 player.

This will help reduce board size and bypass a lot of problems.

Progress

Took a week off from the game

When making your deck you may only pick 13 different cards. Each will have four.

Not much else will be posted since so many things are changing.

It is getting close to being able to test with no notes needed.

I will inform you when testing starts up again.

Territory revision

The Card Slot is being removed and being replaced with the Discarder

This allows you when a card lands on it to either discard and trade with the top card of your deck. This will only be activated when the Middle Ground is occupied by one of your cards,

Manual Work

No really testing being done.

Soon I'll be doing card to card testing where ill test different scenarios with cards.

This will make testing go faster.

Other than that all I have been doing is sprucing up the game manual.

Update

A lot of things are changing. Too much to even post. But Here are some (not all) of the definite revisions.

-Booby trap and Sabotage ability removed
-Ammo Help card removed
-Territory set up is changed
-Hitman can pick two classes
-Murderer brings cards back to Battle Ground

Good Changes

BOTA changes:
-Attacker can't get a one hit kill on the Guard with full safe zone
-end of the facts for Castle/Ace
-removed: Attacker///When bumping the Twin to a full safe zone it kills it for full points
-removed: Killer///Can kill the building and its Builder; not the Builder alone. Can be killed in the Safe Zone by another Killer.
-removed: Hitman/// If you hold middle earth his kills are worth double points
-moved special ability to ability in Reviver
-add the Murderer to the Revivers prey and Reviver the Murderers Predator
-Reviver can pick cards from the enemy kill count; any card that player wants
-Change the Bandit from only double points to him to giving points to every card in the Battle Grounds
-Kidnapper can pick Deactivated cards aswell
-Archers Attacker needs "E" and "R"
-Killer can kill Disposal class
-removed: Destroyer///Can kill a disabled Builder
-remember to add to the imposter that it can change it's ability if give an ammo help card and takes it back to a friendly safe zone
-denier negates only enemy abilities
-might add that the Tempter can move whatever card it wants when it can in any direction regardless of the cards movability
-revise Trappers description
-might be adding that the trapper can trap diagonally
-hider and spy can't be trapped
-when captivator captures a building it will go under the Building, when the Building is Destroyed the captivator is also destroyed
-revise jumpers special ability
-figure out some way to show that safe zones are destroyed when they do.
-the spy is safe from its own blast from a sabotaged card
-might be removing the booby trap ability and allowing the spy to sabotage any number of cards it wants
-might give the engineer the ability to unsabotage cards. When it's near the card you can use a turn to search the card
-Reviver bumping a card that is sabotaged stops the sabotage
-a spy can't go under a card the hider is under
-add that when switching with a deactivated card the card is flipped up
-revise switchers facts
-revise engineers, bouncers, and carriers special abilities
-carriers ability should be changed to just "can carry cards"
-revise Builder
-sorcerer goes diagonal
-addition to Governing rule, if you do not land on board after killing a card you get bumped back to your safe zone
-multi build will be taken out
-Twin cannot go on the middle ground space
-cannot kill or use ability on the same card from the enemy ex. Trapper can't trap a trapper
-when dark switching with an enemy card you can place the enemy card anywhere in the battle Grounds

Clean up

Alot of changes are happening... For the good.

Instead of adding things I have taken some things out and rearranged them

I won't be adding them on here because there is still work to be done.

Today's progress will hopefully be another day of testing and the starting of a new board.

Test #8,9,10

More tests have been done.
Here are a few changes:
-Hitman now can pick two (maybe one) class instead of three cards
-Murderer can kill up to three cards of anything but once you have three cards under the card (this is one of the only cards that is an exception to the 'no abilities when on top of a active card' rule) you must bring the Murderer back to your territory to get the points for the cards (put them in your kill count pile) and be able to kill three more. This may change

Changes

-the Murderer will now be able to kill as many cards as it wants
-card slot is now random and face down cards you will be able to pick
+the Under Class will be able to, when controlling the Middle Ground, prevent enemies from landing on your face down cards (could be removed)
